Though Bajaj Auto's sales rose 16% on year-on-year basis to 3.83 lakh units in August, its managing director Rajiv Bajaj isn't happy. How can he be? After all the company is still 4% short of its targeted four-lakh-a-month sales figure. "We would exceed that number in the month of September and October as they are the peak months for sales."
Post that, the gloom shall return. Bajaj fears that it will be a challenge to hold the monthly sales target (of four lakh units) post November. "If Boxer lives up to the expectations, we will attempt to do 20,000 this month and 30,000 in the subsequent month. If that momentum is added to that of Pulsar and Discover, then we can maintain this 400,000 figure post November too," says the MD of the country's second largest two-wheeler maker.
