State Bank of India’s (SBI) first quarter net profit fell 45.7% year-on-year to Rs 1,584 crore, driven by increase in provisions. However, its net interest income (NII) rose nearly 33% to Rs 9,699 crore.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Pratip Chaudhary, chairman of SBI said, he expects the pressure of provisioning to diminish from third quarter onwards.

Chaudhary expects deposit growth of about 20-21% and credit growth of 16-19% on the domestic book in FY12.
